Brooklyn Heights Neighborhood Amenities

Brooklyn Heights Neighborhood Amenities

Brooklyn Heights is one of New York’s most charming and safest neighborhoods. The movement to preserve vintage architecture which resulted in the creation of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission began in Brooklyn Heights in the 1960s. Many of the buildings in Brooklyn Heights date from the 19th century and their character and charm are rigorously protected.

Brooklyn Heights and adjacent neighborhoods are home to a very dynamic restaurant scene.

Atlantic Avenue StorefrontsOur personal favorite: Baccus at 409 Atlantic between Bond and Nevins Streets has a delightful French menu and a charming garden open in seasonable weather.

Along Atlantic Avenue, 2 blocks away, there are a variety of Middle Eastern restaurants and grocery stores, notably Sahadi’s, a local institution at 187 Atlantic, selling a wide variety of groceries and prepared foods.

Also on Atlantic Avenue between Clinton and Court Streets one finds a Key Food Supermarket with a very good fresh produce selection.

Damascus Bakery

Montague Street is a main commercial Street in the area where there are several restaurants.  Many other restaurants are located on Atlantic Avenue, Court Street and Smith Street nearby. Go a bit further and you’ll find Time-Out New York food hall in Dumbo.
